Wicklow Gaol is one of Ireland’s most engaging visitor experiences. But don’t take our word for it…

“Great afternoon out”

We visited with out two daughters, aged 11 and 14. Parking was easy and included in the price. The gaol has a range of interactive displays in a tour that takes you around the building. It was a strange combination of a really fun afternoon mixed with sadness and horror as you found out about how men, women and children had been treated on the very spot you were standing on. It also taught me a lot about Irish history and the reasons why many of the prisoners were inmates. Our daughters also enjoyed the experience.  Highly recommended. 5 of 5 starsReviewed 23 April 2015

“Relaxed and informative ”

Visited the gaol with my partner and another couple on a Friday afternoon.
Firstly it was really handy to have allocated parking that was free too. The prices were very reasonable and you get an audio device to take with you on your tour. I liked the fact it was self guided and the descriptions weren’t too long, the set up of the rooms was very well done and the scenarios were great. The props and set up of the gaol was very well done and we had a very enjoyable visit. Lastly the cafe in the gaol was excellent and the food was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced, a very good day out.    5 of 5 starsReviewed 18 April 2015

A great tour around the gaol. Very chilling to see how people were treated. Many ghosts and spirits here. A tour not for the faint hearted but highly recommended. Visited April 2015

 “Excellent Venue… Must visit!!!!”

What can I say. A superb exhibition rounded off with a paranormal experience. Excellent informative exhibition. Well done to all involved. Staff extremely friendly and gregarious. Visit the jailers rest for a quick bite!!… NB. Experienced a hair raising experience in the genealogy room. The store room door kept opening and closing by itself! With no one in sight. This place is a must!!! A  *****5 of 5 starsReviewed 29 March 2015

I really enjoyed visiting this museum with my 8 years old daughter . Very well organised museum, clever and interactive displays ,  audio in different languages and there is a bit for everyone ( Irish history, condition of life in prison, paranormal…) . The Dungeon part was even a bit creepy :) The entrance fee is correct + 3 hours for free parking in front of the museum included + 10 % discount for the coffee shop. Coffee shop is very cosy, the food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Would recommend and will definitely go back…Reviewed 19th Feb by LoUh

 ” Very Enjoyable”

We took a trip with my 12 year old daughter to visit the Gaol. We found it very educational, interesting and enjoyable, especially my daughter who loved the fact that it wasn’t a guided tour and we could go around at our own pace….We were nicely surprised that the café food was both delicious and reasonably priced..Reviewed 13th Feb by Coffebean.

“Language school”

As a language school we send hundreds of students to this wonderful, fun filled and educational historical site. All of our students come back with great review about the site and the experience they have had at Wicklow Gaol. A definite must see for anyone coming to Ireland. Reviewed 16 January 2015 by Lynda P

“Super day out. Terrific tour, terrific meal, terrific value.”

“Our family visited recently. The tour is fantastic. Very interesting and the actors brought, what could have been a boring history lesson, to life and very enjoyable. Their interaction with the tour group was different and fun.” – Mrs. Smiley- Ireland, June 2014

“Don’t miss this history”

“There is a lot of history in this wee place and it’s well set up. You don’t have to pay parking if you do the tour and it’s not expensive. You can park right outside and a lovely cafe awaits you when you finish.” – davey115 – Belfast, June 2014

“Interesting visit”

“We were met at reception by a very friendly informative lady and before going on the tour enjoyed a lovely coffee sitting outside in a small cosy area in the sunshine!” – Hazel M. – Ireland, June 2014
